Why does a truly professional trading process actually seem a bit “boring”?

Why does a truly professional trading process actually seem a bit “boring”?

In our earlier interview with Max profit-sharing trader Zhao Hanxuan, we discussed a very important trading habit: trade according to plan.

When to start observing, under what conditions to enter, how to handle unexpected volatility, and how much risk to take on at most that day - many decisions should actually be thought through before the real trade.

For EagleTrader Max traders, this is especially important.

Max does not need to go through multiple rounds of profit-target assessments; once an account is obtained, the trader can enter the profit-sharing stage, which also means that from day one, trading pace, risk arrangements, and execution plans all need to be prepared in advance.

Before trading starts, get yourself into the right state first.

If you plan to start trading at 8 a.m., but only get up at 7:50 and then directly open the market charts, it is hard to expect yourself to immediately enter a clear and focused state of judgment.

Leaving yourself a little preparation time is more important than rushing to catch the first opportunity that appears.

Get up, organize your state, check whether there are any important events in the market that day, and start only after your brain has truly entered work mode.

Even if you miss one or two trading opportunities because of this, there is no need to chase in immediately.

Opportunities will not disappear just because you missed one, but decisions made in a hurry may affect the entire trading day ahead.

So a good start is not necessarily about how fast you make your first trade today, but whether you are already prepared before the first trade appears.

Before starting today, review yesterday first.

A new trading day does not mean yesterday's operations are no longer valuable.

Why did you enter yesterday? After a loss appeared, did you temporarily change your position size or exit rules? The earlier you review these questions, the easier it is to spot them in time the next time a similar situation occurs.

Max traders can also combine the Eagle Score and periodic data to observe their own performance.

The Eagle Score provides feedback from dimensions such as professional skills, risk management, trading consistency, and trading experience, giving clearer data references for some issues that could originally only be judged by feel.

Review is not about repeatedly agonizing over the profit or loss of a certain trade, but about confirming one thing: whether your trading approach has recently undergone changes that even you have not noticed.

Before the market moves, think through the worst-case scenario first.

Many on-the-spot mistakes happen in the instant of an unexpected event outside the plan.

If the price breaks a key level, should you chase it?

If you encounter a quick reversal right after entering, when should you exit?

After several consecutive losing trades, must you stop for the day?

These questions absolutely cannot wait until the market slaps you in the face before you scramble for answers.

As Zhao Hanxuan said in the interview: before acting, treat every judgment as if it were wrong first - ask yourself, if you are wrong, can you bear the cost? If you can bear it, then continue.

Put these contingency plans in place in advance, so when volatility is fastest and emotions are most likely to take over, you do not need to make decisions anew; instead, like a conditioned reflex, you compare whether the current market conditions match the script you have already written.

Likewise, the day's macro data is also part of the trading plan.

Before and after data releases, the market often loses control instantly, and technical levels that originally worked may temporarily become ineffective.

Before trading, glance at the economic calendar and set the rules: should you avoid risk and wait and see at this time, or follow the strategy and take risks to seize opportunities?

Complete these temporary decisions in advance, and only then will you truly be calm before the market opens.

Max removes multiple rounds of assessment, but the risk boundary must still be checked every day.

Max allows traders to directly enter the profit-sharing stage, but the profit-sharing rules still require daily attention.

Currently, Max requires the account's maximum drawdown to be controlled within 7%, and the intraday maximum drawdown to be controlled within 3%. The relevant risk-control lines are dynamically calculated according to the account rules.

Therefore, before a new day begins, in addition to watching the market, it is also worth taking a look at your account first.

How much room is left before the current risk-control line? How much risk do you plan to use today? If unfavorable trades occur consecutively, to what extent should you pause?

Clarifying these questions in advance is far more meaningful than dealing with them after touching the risk boundary.

The real value of rules is not only to determine whether an account has violated regulations, but also to make traders clearly understand before placing an order which operations have already exceeded their own tolerance.

Truly effective trading preparation actually consists of extremely ordinary small things: organizing your state in advance, reviewing past operations, writing the worst-case script ahead of time, and strictly guarding the account's risk boundary.

If, at the end of the trading day, you did not blindly chase orders because you were envious of the market, did not tear up your plan on the spot because of consecutive losses, and even made the day look a bit boring - believe me, for trading, a bland day without surprises is itself a very high level of self-discipline.

Before entering, have one less impulse of the moment; during execution, have one more preplanned intention. This is what the daily routine of a mature trader should be like.
